Gomini exists because a farmer in the Darjeeling foothills told us the truth about the samagri being sold to his own family, and we could not un-hear it.
Gomini began with more than one thousand gaushalas visited and one hundred thousand conversations with farmers who raise India's indigenous desi cows. What we heard was that the milk, the ghee, the gaumutra, and the dung these families produce - the most consecrated raw materials in Sanatana practice - were being sold at the price of commodity, blended into the price of adulterated, and losing their meaning at both ends of the chain.
We chose the foothills of the Himalayas in Darjeeling district as our base - because the indigenous Siri cattle, the altitude, the mountain water and the untouched pastures produce a raw material of a character plains-reared herds cannot. We started Gomini to put the meaning back.
The person who leads worship is the person who should curate the samagri.
It is a name, a foothill, and a date.
It is respect for what the samagri is.
not the units it ships.
Gomini's real credentials are the farmers, pandits and retailers we work with. Their words will appear here in time - in their own voice.
The pandit is not our customer. The pandit is the reason Gomini exists. If you conduct karma-kanda, run a puja-samagri store, or supply a temple, we would like to hear from you.
